Anne Rieck McFarland, LifeScape CEO, has announced that LifeScape has been awarded the four-year Person-Centered Excellence Accreditation from CQL | The Council on Quality and Leadership. This award confirms that the organization embraces person- centered solutions to improve the quality of life for people receiving supports and services.

No matter the age, no matter the ability, LifeScape’s vision is for all people to be valued. LifeScape’s mission is to empower children and adults with disabilities to lead fulfilling lives. The only organization of its kind in South Dakota, LifeScape supports people with disabilities from birth through end of life. Service lines include Children’s Intermediate Care Level of residential services, adult residential services, a Specialty Hospital, a Specialty School, adult day services, external case management, employment services, outreach/outpatient therapy services, supported living and rural outreach, Family Support 360, and Rehabilitation Medical Supply (RMS) – LifeScape’s RMS employs four certified Seating & Mobility Specialists, which makes up 80% of these professionals in North America!). Their access to many professionals across the service lines under one entity makes the organization unique, and often times is the only entity capable of serving individuals unable to be cared for elsewhere.

LifeScape is licensed by the Department of Health, Department of Social Services, Department of Human Services, Iowa Medicaid, WIOA Department of Labor, and Housing and Urban Development. And in addition to LifeScape’s CQL accreditation, their RMS is accredited by the American Board for Certification.

According to Anne Rieck McFarland, “We are extremely pleased and proud to be awarded a 4- year accreditation – which is the best rating we could have received! This is a huge accomplishment! The accreditors from CQL did a thorough examination of our service lines, and we welcomed their feedback and relish their kudos to our organization. We look forward to

continuing our work with them, growing our organization, and continuing to provide the best possible supports to the people using the services of LifeScape.”

When LifeScape partnered with CQL to pursue accreditation, it undertook a rigorous process to review and improve supports and services. The efforts of LifeScape were focused on empowering the people who receive supports to pursue what really matters in their lives, and achieve their personally-defined outcomes.

LifeScape has been awarded CQL accreditation as a result of demonstrating proficiency in the following areas:

  • Basic Assurances®
    • Ensuring fundamental safeguards related to health, safety and human security
  • Personal Outcome Measures®
    • Supporting and empowering people to achieve their goals and dreams
  • Person-Centered Excellence
    • Demonstrating organizational commitment to continued enhancement of systems

“CQL commends LifeScape for its success in increasing the quality of life for the people it supports. We are pleased to partner with them on this journey of ongoing organizational transformation,” states Mary Kay Rizzolo, president and CEO of CQL.
